Chelsea Marie McLean
Chelsea is the daughter of Dara and Larry McLean of Rochester, Michigan. A graduate of Rochester Adams high school, she moved on to attend Michigan State University for a degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG). Chelsea just finished her 5th year of study for a Ph.D. in Genetics at Cornell University and will be defending her thesis in July. In her “spare time” Chelsea managed to completely renovate her 170 year old farmhouse…what a relief to finally be done!

Nicholas Joseph Brideau
Nick is the son of Vickie and Roger Brideau of Ann Arbor, Michigan. A graduate of Portage Central high school, he also moved on to attend Michigan State University for a degree in Biochemistry. Nick is currently hard at work studying fruit flies and has also just finished his 5th year of study for a Ph.D. in Genetics at Cornell University. He will defend his thesis this fall. In his time away from the lab, Nick enjoys catching up on all things sports (especially Spartan basketball) and helping Chelsea with work on her house.

How we met
Well its a funny story how we actually met for the first time - make sure to ask about it sometime. We both went to Michigan State University where we lived in the same dorm - one floor apart - and had mutual friends. But we didn’t actually meet until we interviewed for graduate school together at Cornell. As seniors at MSU we ran into each other from time to time on campus or out on the town, but did not become friends until joining the same department at Cornell. It was here in Ithaca that we became best friends and shared both the best (and the worst) parts of graduate school together. We are both currently working diligently to finish our degrees and look forward to beginning our lives together.

Our Engagement
